I hope he has some players around him that play well. Defending Hall-Nuge-Yakupov is NOT going to be fun.

"This just Landeskog as a rookie and produced only two fewer assists than Brown."

Landeskog with 219 hits is pretty awesome. Most rookies that come into the league are either too timid to hit or are reckless and does something stupid. This guy is mature beyond his age.

Mark my words Landeskog is next seasons captain.

As far as his ceiling goes it's anywhere between Dustin Brown and Alex Ovechkin.

One of the keys for him will be improving his wrist shot, if he does that he has all the other tools and tenacity he needs to be a generational talent. One thing people forget when they talk about his ceiling. At every level he has played he has found a way to elevate his game while playing a real blue collar style and putting up points.

I think the people that were not sure how much offensive upside he had were assuming he had just matured earlier than everyone else and may not have had much room to grow.

He could be done growing or he could be just getting started. If he's just getting started in 2-3 years he will be a phenom..

I speak for all the Senators fan base when I say this.. you guys are extremely lucky to have this kid. I don't quite see him hitting Ovechkin's more impressive numbers, but he can definitely hit the 70-85 pt mark in his career. Congrats guys!

If hejduk retires which he probably will, I am not sure the avs will even have a captain next season. The organization doesn't want to throw around the C lightly and I mgmt will want the next person they give the C to wear it for the next 10 years. Lando might not yet be ready

Out of all of the players currently in our line up, I think he would be the best option for the Captain of the future, but he is still a rookie and I am not a fan of Giving a 20 year old kid in his 2nd year the C.

I would rather we just have 3 A's next year for Stastny Johnson, Raydar and JayMac and just alternate them.

Just let lando continue to grow as a player without having to worry about additional duties as a Captain yet. Maybe in a few years

Landeskog is the only one with leadership ability who seems to flourish with more responsibility and does not already put so much pressure on himself.

O'Reilly wearing the C scares me.. He already puts to much pressure on himself. EJ has proven in the past that he has trouble when the spotlight and pressure is focused on him as well.

Stastny is just to quiet and I don't think needs any more pressure than his contract already has him under.

Landeskog has that calm cool and collected leadership style. Hes vocal without saying to much and passionate enough at the same time. There has been plenty of young captains in the league and I would argue that he is just as mature as Toews and even more so than Crosby, when those guys were given the C.

As far as the 3 As idea.. We seen how that worked out at the beginning of this year. I am not for it again..

Btw.. Landeskog is not a rookie anymore

He is still only 19 or 20 and stastny, JayMac, and EJ are still the leaders on this team Rookie or not, right now he needs to work on developing his game and growing as a player, not taking responsibility for an entire team

What about taking up a leadership role for an entire national team? The kid oozes leadership. To take up a letter at this years worlds is a pretty big statement of how he is a born leader, and leads through example. I dont think it would raise too many eyebrows around the league if he was named Avs Captain this year or next

He's a great player, I'm hoping the Habs draft Forsberg or Galyenchuk and one of those two will be as good as him.

Hopefully he keeps improving, great player.

Wasn't sure how he would do scoring, with decent point totals in the OHL. Man prospects can confuse me.

I think O'Rielly well be wearing the C.

Landdy is amazing, he well be better the Brown in the next year and well lead this team for a long time! he is a mix of Brown and Towes. i see him puttin up 70 to 80 pts a year, if he plays with Duchene anyway!
